Anthropic’s Claude 3 arrives, ChatGPT has a voice, Microsoft’s byte models

GPT-4 has met its match.

Hello, Starters!

Catching up with AI is like witnessing a titanic clash in real-time. With the dawn of a new day, we have another groundbreaking announcement. Luckily, we're here to cover them!

Here’s what you’ll find today:

  • Anthropic welcomes Claude 3

  • ChatGPT’s new voice feature

  • Microsoft presents bGPT

  • Nvidia: The world's 3rd richest company

  • Claude lands on Bedrock

  • And more.

The AI race shows no signs of stopping as Anthropic announces Claude 3, the latest version of the company's remarkable GenAI chatbot that integrates three models: Haiku, Sonnet, and Opus, with the latter being the most powerful. According to Anthropic, Claude's performance on specific benchmarks exceeds the expectations set by GPT-4 and Gemini 1.0 Ultra.

Claude 3 will initially support a 200,000-token context window, potentially upgrading to a 1-million-token window for selected users. Notably, this marks Anthropic's first multimodal GenAI, capable of processing multiple images in a single request.

Keeping up with the competition, OpenAI has rolled out a new feature for ChatGPT called 'Read Aloud,' allowing the chatbot to have a "voice." With this option, users can now hear the responses to their queries, as ChatGPT will read them out loud in one of the five different voices available, with auto-detection of the text's language.

The function is accessible for GPT-4 and GPT-3.5 users, both on mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as the web version of ChatGPT. Just tap and hold the text to open the Read Aloud player or look out for the speaker icon.

A study from Microsoft Research Asia unveils bGPT, a transformer model that focuses on byte prediction and works with native binary data. This approach ditches the need for traditional token prediction while being able to work with several data types, such as text, audio, and images.

By understanding data at a smaller level, bGPT better handles the information and tasks at hand. Researchers expect this innovative method to reduce the amount of computational costs while allowing models to work more efficiently.

💸Nvidia continues on its way to the top. The company has surpassed Saudi Aramco in market value, crowning itself as the world's third-most valuable public company, just behind Apple and Microsoft.

💡Following Anthropic's announcement of Claude 3, Amazon, a current partner of the company, has introduced it to Bedrock, enabling users to leverage its capabilities and build AI applications on the AWS platform.
