📚 Andrej Karpathy announces “Eureka Labs” (2 min)
Andrej Karpathy may be well known for his previous work at Tesla and OpenAI, however, there's a huge group that also recognizes him for his continuous commitment to teaching AI, either through YouTube videos or through GitHub. Recently, Karpathy announced that he's taking his vision further with the launch of "Eureka Labs," an AI learning platform.
In a post on X, he described the project as still in its early stages, yet its main goal relies on creating an "AI native school." Eureka Labs' first course is "LLM101n," which is aimed at undergraduate-level students and will teach them to train their own AI.
🐍Mistral presents Codestral Mamba (1 min)
Mistral, the French AI giant, has released Codestral Mamba, its latest open-source offering. It's based on the newly powerful Mamba architecture, which allows faster inference times and longer contexts. Codestral Mamba has been specially designed for code generation, and its enhanced performance and improved input length make it a great coding assistant.
Codestral Mamba is available on Mistral's "la Plateforme," and can handle inputs up to 256k tokens, boasting impressive 7B parameters.
Google has introduced a new AI-powered tool mainly destined for Workspace users. Google Vids is an app that helps with video presentations, which can be created from users' data or through templates. Also, it harnesses Gemini to draft scripts and has a library of royalty-free content to further customise your presentations.
"Vids" is currently available for a selected group of Workspace Labs users, as the company is still polishing the feature. Regardless, it has the potential to be a powerful tool to enhance productivity and showcases Google's commitment to continuously adding a dash of AI to all its offerings.

🤗The increasing trend of compact models doesn't stop, and Hugging Face is the latest to join with the unveiling of SmolLM, a family of three language models of 135M, 360M, and 1.7B parameters respectively, which despite its small size are already outperforming similar models in benchmarks like common sense reasoning and world knowledge.
🏥Research from the University of Cambridge has harnessed AI to keep track of dementia patients and uncover which of them are most likely to develop Alzheimer's, and which will remain stable. The tool uses data from cognitive tests and MRI scans, and with 80% accuracy, it can greatly improve treatments.
