Standing out as one of the most promising AI offerings at the moment, Perplexity, has reached a billion-dollar valuation in a recent round of funding. With this milestone, the AI search startup plans to expand its global presence.
Additionally, they've announced Enterprise Pro, a service that aims to enhance workplace search while prioritising data privacy and security, providing accurate and efficient results simultaneously.
🍎 OpenELM: A family of models by Apple (1 min)
Apple is also pushing for open source and small models with the launch of OpenELM, a family of open-source "Efficient Language Models" ranging from 270M to 3B parameters, which excel in accuracy and are optimised for Apple devices.
The company has shared the pre-training dataset, CoreNet, in support of open research and to improve the models through collaborative efforts.
💼 Amazon announces Custom Model Import (5 min)
Amazon wants to make its cloud computing service, AWS, a major asset for companies. They recently announced Custom Model Import, a feature for Bedrock that allows enterprises to bring their own AI programs and use them like any other AI program in Bedrock, such as Llama 3 or Claude 3.
This feature enables companies to further improve their proprietary AI models by leveraging Bedrock's tools, expanding their knowledge, fine-tuning them, and adding safeguards against biases.
💊Scientists from ETH Zurich are usingAI algorithms to create new drug molecules based on a protein's three-dimensional surface. The software is available for researchers worldwide, with the goal of improving drug discovery.
🕶️After a period of beta testing, Meta is finally rolling out Multimodal AI access to all its Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses users. This allows them to easily command the AI assistant to answer queries, take photos, translate signs, and much more.
